Because MS standardized on .NET, there are less awkward ways to write VB code. Believe me, there are a lot of ways to do weird things in VB6 (like copying structs via a side-effect of a string function. Really!) and I’m glad MS has suppressed many of them.
Variable declaration is very nice. Let’s declare str as a String:
